ASSURANCES
CRB Checks
All DJ’s employed by ‘Noo Noo’s Parties and Black Night Disco’s’ hold
certificates issued by the ‘Criminal Records Bureau’ (CRB).
This insures that all DJ’s are suitable to work with children and
vulnerable adults. See
www.crb.homeoffice.gov.uk
for more information on CRB checks.
PAT testing of electrical equipment
All electrical equipment used at public functions receives a regular
‘Portable Appliance Test’, commonly known as a ‘PAT test’. This insures
that all equipment is safe to use and there are no electrical faults
with the equipment and that it adheres to the ‘The Electricity at Work
Act 1989’.
Note:
By employing a non-professional DJ to cater for your event, it is
putting the public and the venue at risk. It is likely that their
equipment will not have been PAT tested and does not comply with ‘The
Electricity at Work Act 1989’, this may entail that insurance policies
may no longer be valid.
Pro Dub licence
All
DJs (based in the UK and Channel Islands) who transfer their music
collection from vinyl or CD to MP3 or other digital format must hold a
valid ProDub licence. As part of a venues own public performance
licence, they will be required to verify if your DJ requires a ProDub
licence and if so, actually holds one. If your DJ doesn't hold the
necessary proof, they could be prevented from setting-up, thus ruining
your event. At Noo Noo’s and Black Night Disco’s we of course hold a
ProDub licence.
The
ProDub licence is managed by the MCPS-PRS Alliance (Mechanical-Copyright
Protection Society and Performing Rights Society). This non-profit
organisation is responsible for the payment of royalties to writers,
composers and music publishers. Please see
PRS
for Music
for more information.
Public liability insurance
We hold a current Public liability insurance policy for £10,000,000 via
the National Association of Disc Jockeys
It covers both the public and the venue against the unlikely event that
our service may cause any damage.
Dangers of not hiring professional entertainers who do not hold such
insurance:
Many hotels and corporate venues insist DJs are fully insured. If your
DJ arrives to set-up on your big day and is unable to produce evidence
of insurance, and PAT tested equipmentthey may be refused entry. If your DJ causes damage to
property or individuals you may end-up being liable for the costs.
